Quest ATR-Spectrometer
Description
The Quest single-reflection ATR (Attenuated Total Reflectance) accessory from Specac is designed for laboratory
spectroscopic sample analysis in the mid- and far-IR regions With innovative optical design and durable monolithic
diamond ATR crystal option, this is a sampling technique that uses a crystal with a high refractive index. The
sample is placed in contact with the crystal, and infrared light is directed onto the crystal. When the light hits the
crystal, it is totally internally reflected, creating an evanescent wave that interacts with the sample at the surface.
The sample absorbs some of the infrared light, and this results in a change in the intensity of the reflected light,
which is then analyzed to produce an infrared spectrum.
